Police Public Mela to be held tomorrow in Srinagar

21st Police Public Mela is all set to be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar tomorrow. More than 36 stalls are being established by different police units and different items representing all the regions of the State would be put on sale for the public.

Pertinently, the event has been getting overwhelming response from public every time since 1996 when it was first organized on small scale.

In order to take stoke of the arrangements made for the Mela, the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad visited the venue this afternoon. He inspected the establishment of stalls by different police units. He enquired from the management about the police band bust made in and around the venue and was apprised that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure security during the Mela. He was also apprised about the traffic and parking arrangements made by the traffic wing to avoid traffic jams.

The DGP also presided over a meeting of officers and lady members of J&K Police Wives Welfare Association and discussed various aspects to make the mega event a success. He stressed that people’s participation in the Mela at large scale would make the event more graceful and colorful and all possible steps should be made to make public access convenient.

The meeting was told that computerization of sale proceedings of the tickets has been started and the process would continue till all the tickets are sold. The DGP asked the management to keep available the tickets at the venue on the Mela day so that the aspirants are not disappointed. He also enquired from the management about the catering arrangements for the children participating in the painting competition.

Prasad expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made by the management. He stressed upon the officers for close coordination to conduct the Mela in a befitting manner. He also stressed for ensuring quality and reasonable rates for the products being put for sale during the Mela.
