All Party Legislators’ meeting was convened on Saturday to discuss issues with regard to conduct of the business and other arrangements for forthcoming assembly session commencing from Monday, 1st October.
Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone has sought the cooperation of legislators for smooth conduct of the session proceedings.
The legislators present in the meeting highlighted various issues and gave their valuable suggestions for holding the house proceedings in a congenial atmosphere in accordance with norms of parliamentary democracy.
Lone welcomed the suggestions of the members and assured that the proceedings would be held in a very cordial manner and every public representative would be given ample opportunity to raise the public issue of his constituency.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand and Minister for Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar assured the Speaker on behalf of the Government that full support will be extended for smooth functioning of Assembly up to the satisfaction of the legislators.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta and Ashok Kumar Khajuria stressed upon the need for holding of three sessions in a year. Lone assured them that the matter will be examined and is to be taken up with the Government.
Advisor to Chief Minister and Chief Whip National Conference (NC), Mubarak Gul; Legislator, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan besides Secretary Assembly, M. Ramzan were present in the meeting.
Later, on the demand of legislators, the Speaker visited MLA hostel and took stock of arrangements made for their comfortable stay.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Legislators Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Mr. Ashok Kumar Khajuria and Ch. Mohammad Ramzan accompanied the Speaker during his visit.
The Speaker directed the MLA hostel management to ensure better catering facilities to the legislators, besides, maintenance of the hostel. He also directed for preparing separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian kitchens facilities.
Taking serious note for non attendance of the staff, the speaker directed the concerned to send the attendance of the staff to the assembly Secretariat on day to day basis.
