“Lance Naik Naresh Kumar was killed on the spot and another jawan got injured when they stepped over the mine along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district last night,” a Defence spokesman told PTI in Jammu.
The two victims were part of Road Opening Party (ROP) when the incident took place, he said, adding body of Kumar will be sent to his native place in Haryana after completion of all formalities.
The injured soldier has been hospitalised, he added.
