Hours after a Jammu and Kashmir police officer was shot dead, unidentified gunmen killed one person in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said here today.
They said gunmen fired upon from very close range upon Muddasir Ahmad Mir at Lassipora in Pulwama last night.
He was immediately rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The gunmen later escaped under the cover of darkness.
A massive hunt has been launched to nab the killers of Mir.
Earlier, during the day, gunmen shot dead Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Farooq Ahmad Sheikh at main chowk Pulwama.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for these killings.
These killings took place four days after Darbar Move, seat of the government reopens in summer capital, Srinagar, after shifting from winter capital, Jammu.
Killing of ASI came about two weeks after four police personnel were shot dead by militants in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir.
