Kashmir Weather Improves, May Remain Dry Next 24 Hours

After witnessing below normal maximum and minimum temperature, weather finally improved in the Kashmir valley. Marriages, ceremonies were affected due to rain resulting in drop in the temperature in the Valley during the past about two weeks.

A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that the weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours when the temperatures will also improve.

Sun was out this morning though cold winds continued and sky was partly cloudy in the Valley, where the minimum temperature remained below normal.

In the summer capital, Srinagar, the night temperature dropped further and settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch less than yesterday when it was 9.4 degrees, three degree below normal.

The spokesman said 0.8 mm rainfall was recorded till 0800 hrs today in the city. He said minimum temperature was three degree below normal at Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort in north Kashmir while
at Pahalgam it was also three notches below normal.

At Kokernag, Qazigund and Kupwara, the night temperature was below normal by four to six degrees.
