The Traffic police official said heavy rains triggered landslides at Bazinalla, forcing authorities to suspend traffic on the highway.
It was still raining heavily in the area, he said.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, has pressed into
service sophisticated machines and men to put through the highway.
Vehicles were stranded on both sides of the Zojila Pass.
