All educational institutions will remain closed in this north Kashmir district today in view of the imminent flood threat following torrential rains, accompanied by thunderstorm during the past 24 hours.
Officials said here today the Baramulla Deputy Commissioner, has ordered closure of all educational institutions in view of the flood-like situation in rivers and other water bodies in the district due to heavy rains during the past 24 hours.
The order said all government and private schools will remain closed today. They said this order will be reviewed again in the evening after assessing the situation.
A minor, Shaista Nazir, was killed when she was swept away by flaashflood at Qazipora Rafiabad in this district yesterday.
Due to heavy rains and strong winds, power supply in majority areas in the district was disrupted after transmission lines were damaged.
At several places, trees were uprooted, damaging power lines.
However, the Power Development Department (PDD) officials have already started repair work to restore electricity in the affected areas.
