BCCI ignored ICC warning on Gurunath-bookie link

The ICC is learnt to have warned BCCI over Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappan's involvement with bookies before the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League.

According to Times Now, the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit had information of Meiyappan's link with bookies and it had warned the Indian cricket board about it, but the BCCI ignored ICC's warning.

The sources has access to the transcript of the conversation between Vindu Dara Singh and Meiyappan, both of whom have been arrested by the police in the betting scandal, in which the latter is heard asking the former to be careful while dealing with bookies.

The transcripts also show Meiyappan telling Vindu "ICC has warned BCCI about me".

The former CSK boss is also heard giving specific orders to Vindu on amounts to be placed. The transcripts also reveals hat someone in the BCCI had tipped off Meiyappan regarding the ICC warning, which in itself is a crime under Indian laws.

On Friday, the custody of Vindu and Meiyappan was extended till June 3.
