A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit Jammondayu and Kashmir tomorrow and will remain active till May 2, a Met department spokesman said here this afternoon.
Light rain or thundershowers could occur at isolated places over the state during the next 24 hours. He said a fresh WD, originating in Arabian sea and entering the state through Afghanistan and Pakistan would affect the state from tomorrow. Because of the WD rain or thundershowers could occur at isolated places till May 2.
However, there would be dry weather from May 3, he said. Cold wave continued in the Kashmir valley,
where the sky remained mainly cloudy with sun playing hide and seek.
Barring health resort of Pahalgam, the minimum temperature has increased while the day remained below normal. The summer capital, Srinagar, where the maximum temperature was 19.4 degrees yesterday, was four degrees below normal.
However, the minimum was 10.3 degrees, a notch above normal.
Gulmarg recorded about two degree below normal minimum temperature. However, it had slightly improved.
But at Pahalgam, the base camp of Holy Amarnath Cave shrine, where the annual yatra will commence in the last week of June, recorded 5.4 degrees minimum temperature, a degrees less than yesterday.
At Kokernag, Qazigund and Kupwara the minimum has registered slight increase. Spokesman said at Leh the minimunm was 3.5 degrees and border town of Kargil 2.8 degrees.
