Pedestrian were most affected due to waterlogged roads while those driving vehicles also find it difficult to negotiate through flooded roads.
Heavy rains since last night inundated many low-lying areas in the city and outskirts.
A Met department spokesperson has predicted more rains during the next 24 hours.
A number of business hubs, including Residency road, Hari Singh High Street, Amira Kadal, Regal Chowk, Exhibition road, Khanyar crossing and Magarmal Bagh in the civil lines remained flooded with rain water due to poor drainage system. Reports of similar situation were also received from other parts of the city and outskirts, including Natipora, Azadbasti, Bemina, Mehjoor Nagar and Indira Nagar.
In other major towns and tehsil headquarters, people alleged that due to faulty drainage system, majority roads remained under water, affecting normal life.
Those driving vehicles also find it difficult to negotiate through about one feet water because of damaged roads in Srinagar and other parts of the valley with big holes.
No repair work was done despite improvement in the weather condition in March. However, with just about three weeks to shift the Darbar move, seat of the goverment from winter capital Jammu to Srinagar, the summer capital, authorities in Kashmir, particularly in the city, have started painting roads, particularly which will be used by the VIPs.
