No Immediate Threat of Flood in Kashmir Despite Incessant Rains

Despite incessant rains during the past about one week, there is still no immediate threat of flood in the Kashmir valley though water level in all rivers and their tributaries has increased.

However, in south Kashmir, authorities had called for readying men and machinery in view of incessant rains that may result in increase in water level in rivers and nallahs.

According to Police Control Room (PCR)the there is no immediate threat of flood though water level in river Jehlum at Sangam, Ram Munshi Bagh and Sonawari has increased.

It was still flowing several feet below danger mark, the PCR said. Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Committee (DDC) Kulgam in south Kashmir has called for taking precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property in case of floods.

For the purpose people have been asked to intimate Police Control Room in case of emergency.

The Fire & Emergency Services Department has been directed to keep all officials in a state of complete readiness.

The Assistant Director concerned was asked to remain in touch with mountaineering Division, Pahalgam for securing their assistance in case the need arises.
