The upper reaches experienced fresh snowfall while plains, including summer capital, Srinagar, had light to moderate rains, in the Kashmir valley.
A Met department spokesperson said this afternoon that light to moderate rain or snowfall over hills would occur at many places over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
He said snowfall is likely over Zojila on the highway, connecting Ladakh region with the Kashmir valley.
Upper reaches in Gulmarg sector, including Khilanmarg and Affarwat experienced fresh snowfall early this morning, a hotel owner said. All heights in north Kashmir, including the areas near the Line of Control (LoC) also experienced fresh snowfall.
The Holy Amarnath Cave shrine, where the annual yatra will commence in the last week of June, and its periphery also experienced fresh snowfall.
Reports of snowfall were also received from Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Panjterni and Pisso top on traditional Pahalgam yatra route.
However, Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the route had rains. The summer capital, Srinagar, had light rains today, forcing people to wear woollen and warm clothes again.
However, Met spokesman said the minimum and maximum temperatures were above normal in the capital.
He said there was possibility of light rain tomorrow which could result in slight drop in the maximum temperature.
