Latief Ahmad Khan attacked Reshma Jan in a fit of anger after a scuffle broke out between the mother and the son on Thursday at their home in Kawri village.
Police said Khan wanted his mother to turn off all other equipment as his TV serial was being disrupted due
to low voltage. When his mother refused, Khan pushed her forcefully and she was hit in the head.
She died at a hospital in Srinagar on Saturday.
Police said the unmarried Khan had been living separately in the house as his family wanted him to mend his behaviour. “He is known to smoke charas and other things,” a police official said.
The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered by the police.
