Many killed as bus rolls down gorge in Doda

At least nine passengers have been killed and 13 others injured, some of them seriously, after a vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge in Doda district, police say.

They say the driver of the bus lost control at the wheels at Bhalla in Bhaderwah tehsil.

Five died on the spot and four others succumbed to injuries in district hospital at Doda, PTI reported, adding that 13 passengers are still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the incident and directed the district administration and the health department for providing all possible medical treatment to the injured.

Governor, NN Vohra and various other political leaders have also expressed shock over the incident.
