Amid severe criticism for allowing a tainted anchor to carry on with her morning show on Doordarshan Srinagar, its Programme Head Shami Shair has been removed from the post and attached with Doordarshan headquarters Delhi with immediate effect.
Sources said after facing embarrassment over decision to allow the woman who was arrested by police and later bailed by court for being involved in an immoral act in a house boat at Nagin, the DD authorities issued marching orders to Shair and asked her to report to Delhi.
A top official when contacted clarified that Shair was not Director of DDK Srinagar but was head of the programs only and the post of Director with administrative responsibilities was being held by Aftab Ahmed Station Engineer at DD with the rank of DDG.
DD authorities have ordered Qayoom Wadera, who currently heads the Leh station to report to Srinagar as new head of the programs.
Shair was otherwise in the midst of controversies with rampant allegations of irregularities in allotting programs to her relatives and close associates.
