Jailed cartoonist Aseem Trivedi walked out of Arthur Road prison here on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking to media outside the jail, Trivedi said he was overwhelmed by the support he had received from all quarters.
On Tuesday, the Bombay high court had granted bail to Trivedi on a bond of Rs 5000.
Trivedi was arrested last Saturday and sent to police custody for seven days.
He was charged with sedition for drawing cartoons insulting the Indian emblem, including the Constitution, during Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement in Mumbai in December 2011.
On Monday he was produced before a court where he was granted judicial custody till September 24.
